With goals from Brazilians, United and Bournemouth draw 8-4 in a thrilling match

Manchester United and Bournemouth played a thrilling match this Monday at Old Trafford, corresponding to the 16th round of the English Championship. In a match marked by constant changes in the lead, the teams drew 4-4, with goals from Brazilians Matheus Cunha and Casemiro. Diallo and Bruno Fernandes also scored for the home team, while Semenyo, Tavernier, Éli Kroupi, and Brazilian Evanilson scored for the visitors.

The result was a bitter pill to swallow for Manchester United, who could have climbed to fifth place (a position that guarantees a place in the next Europa League) with a victory.

Bournemouth’s reaction came in the 40th minute, after a communication breakdown between Mason Mount and Luke Shaw. Semenyo received the ball, entered the area, and fired a low, angled shot into the top right corner, beating Senne Lammens and leveling the score.

In first-half stoppage time, the Red Devils regained the lead. After a corner from Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro rose at the far post and headed the ball down, leaving Petrovic helpless.

Bournemouth needed just a minute to equalize again after the break. Tavernier played a through ball, finding Evanilson between the lines; the Brazilian controlled the ball inside the area and fired a low, angled shot past Lammens.

The visitors turned the game around in the seventh minute with a beautiful free-kick goal from Tavernier, who curled it into the corner, giving the goalkeeper no chance.

In the 32nd minute, Bruno Fernandes responded with the same intensity and scored a spectacular free-kick goal. The Portuguese striker unleashed a powerful shot, placing it in the top left corner and leveling the score.

Three minutes later, United took the lead. In a swift counter-attack down the left, Sesko advanced and crossed into the box; Truffert made a partial clearance, and Matheus Cunha appeared to pounce and put the ball into the net.

However, the excitement didn’t end there. In the 39th minute, Bournemouth searched for the equalizer one last time. Jiménez carried the ball forward despite the pressure and found Éli Kroupi, who fired past the goalkeeper to make it 4-4.
