Today, November 12, a minute of silence was observed near the Odesa train station to honor the memory of the Ukrainian soldiers who died in the war with Russia. Passersby and drivers stopped to bow their heads in memory of the heroes. Family members of the fallen, supportive neighbors, and volunteers attended the ceremony.
This was reported by News.LIVE journalists from the scene.
On November 12, a moment of silence was held near the Odesa train station. People paused traffic and their daily activities for a few minutes to honor all those who gave their lives for Ukraine. According to the event organizer, Anastasia Lukashok, the location was not chosen at random, but because it is a meeting point for a large number of people.

“There are always a lot of people here: some are arriving, others are leaving; this is the city center.” “We are organizing an event to attract as much attention as possible and to remind everyone that the memory of the fallen must live on among us every day,” said Anastasia.
The organizers noted that this initiative has been taking place in Odesa since January of this year and is gradually expanding to new locations. According to them, even on weekdays, when there are no scheduled activities, more and more people are voluntarily coming to pay tribute to the fallen.
Relatives of fallen soldiers and supportive citizens of Odesa gathered to remind us that every day Ukrainian soldiers give their lives for the freedom and independence of the country. Among the participants was Olena Mykhalchenko, from Odesa, who attended the event to continue the tradition of commemoration.
“It is very important to cultivate a culture of remembrance. We must pass it on to future generations so that they never forget who our enemy is and why our defenders gave their lives,” said Olena.
What is known about the moment of silence?
The daily minute of silence is a national tradition, introduced by presidential decree in March 2022. Every morning at 9:00 a.m., people across the country bow their heads in honor of those who died in Ukraine’s war for independence.
We note that tributes were paid to deceased cultural figures in Lviv. We also report that an action in support of prisoners was held in Odesa.
