There are two matches scheduled in the First League during the holiday. Bravo and Maribor are currently playing in Stožice, and Celje and Aluminij will play at 5:30 PM.
Bravo took the lead in the 5th minute. Jakoslav Stanković fired from the edge of the box in the first clear chance for the home side; the ball struck Omar Rekika, changed direction, and bounced off the right post before going in.
In the 18th minute, Benjamin Tetteh leveled the score with a powerful shot. In the 21st minute, Ažbe Jug sent a long pass; the Bravo defense failed to clear the ball properly, and Tetteh capitalized on the error: he cut inside and fired a shot into the right corner to put his team ahead.
With this goal, Tetteh equaled Celje’s Franko Kovačević in the scoring charts. In the 43rd minute, Bravo nearly equalized: Aldin Jakupović finished off a counter-attack with a shot that struck the post.
The second and third-placed teams in the league are battling it out in Ljubljana. It’s said that neither team has had the best start to the season. Bravo, for example, suffered a heavy 5-0 home defeat against Celje in the sixth round. With seven points, they found themselves in seventh place (11 points behind Celje!).
They then went seven games unbeaten, and five victories put them just below the top, eight points behind Celje.
In the first match of August, Maribor was already winning 3-1, but Bravo scored two late goals to secure a point, the final goal coming from Rok Kopatin in the 94th minute.
Celje will host Legia Warsaw on Thursday in the third round of the Conference League. After their surprising defeat to Mura last week, they will be looking to get back to winning ways against Aluminij.
