A well-known chef with a successful television career and numerous awards was arrested by authorities on Friday morning for tax debts.
The 58-year-old chef reportedly ran a food business for approximately five years, generating estimated revenues of between €1.3 and €1.4 million.
The chef was reportedly a judge on highly successful reality TV shows, particularly in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
According to the same reports, the chef allegedly failed to pay the corresponding VAT on this income, resulting in tax debts exceeding €400,000. These debts were reportedly incurred over the five-year period covered by the memorandum. He was found guilty in this case and fined.
The chef was arrested and taken to the Athens Magistrates’ Court on Friday morning to serve his sentence, and he even faces imprisonment if he does not immediately settle his financial obligations
