MANILA – Acting Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., reminded officers on Sunday that they must ensure the safety of their families while performing their duties amid Super Typhoon Uwan (Fung-wong).

Preparation begins at home, Nartatez said in a press release, adding that officers who are reassured that their loved ones are safe can better focus on public service.

“Our families are our strength and inspiration. While serving the people during this typhoon, make sure your loved ones are safe. A police officer who is at peace knowing their family is safe can fully dedicate themselves to serving others,” Nartatez said.

He also instructed regional, provincial, and station commanders to allow deployed personnel to visit their families while remaining prepared to respond to emergencies.

“Let us serve with compassion and serenity. Preparedness begins within our own families,” he said.
