The New York State Police, in coordination with the SUNY Morrisville University Police and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, are investigating a shooting that occurred on campus this afternoon.
At approximately 3:45 p.m., state police officers responded to a report of a person shot in South Hall on the SUNY Morrisville campus.
Upon arrival, they found a 20-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the neck. The victim, who is not a SUNY Morrisville student, was transported to Upstate University Hospital for treatment.
No one else was injured during the incident. There are no reports of additional victims or indications of any threat to the university community at this time.
A command post has been established while law enforcement continues to process the scene and search the surrounding areas. Members of the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI), Uniformed Services, Special Operations Response Team (SORT), and canine units are on the scene assisting with the investigation.
