Borussia Dortmund defeated Augsburg 1-0 in the Bundesliga. Gregor Kobel kept his sixth clean sheet of the season.
Thanks to Serhou Guirassy, Borussia Dortmund secured second place in the Bundesliga, at least for one night, while simultaneously plunging FC Augsburg further into crisis. With a hard-fought 1-0 victory, BVB temporarily reduced the gap to FC Bayern to four points, while Sandro Wagner’s relegation-threatened side risks slipping back into the relegation zone.

Guirassy capitalized on the first opportunity of the uneventful match in the 37th minute to end his goal drought after a total of 438 minutes. The ball fell to his feet almost by chance after a defensive lapse by the otherwise highly focused Augsburg side.
Kobel with the sixth clean sheet. Augsburg, who had noticeably improved defensively after humiliating defeats to Leipzig (0-6) and Bochum in the DFB Cup (0-1), put up a strong fight against a very evenly matched opponent, but their tireless efforts went unrewarded due to a lack of scoring chances. As a result, BVB’s Swiss goalkeeper, Gregor Kobel, kept his sixth clean sheet in nine league matches. His national teammate, Fabian Rieder, played the full 90 minutes on Augsburg’s right flank.
